Opportunities
Volunteer Work - The Herbarium welcomes
applications to volunteer in many aspects of
Herbarium tasks such as mounting, database entry,
label production and Herbarium specific projects.
Work Study Students - The University
of Connecticut assigns a certain number of students
to each Department.
Graduate Assistantships - Assists with
herbarium management tasks.
Opportunities
exist for graduate, undergraduate and work study
students.
Typical tasks include entering specimen data,
mounting and labeling specimens, processing
loans, scanning specimens for our on-line database.
Working in the herbarium provides excellent
experience in plant identification, nomenclature,
using complex relational databases and high
tech imaging equipment. These are invaluable
tools for a career in biology and the required
knowledge for many positions in plant taxonomy
and systematics.
